About animals coloring pages

Animals are the first thing many children want to color, and this collection brings them all together. It is split into wild animals, pets and farm animals, so it is easy to find a favorite. Easy animal coloring pages show one big, friendly face with thick lines for toddlers. Trickier ones place the animal in a scene, with trees, grass, rocks or a pond to fill in as well.

Real-life colors are a good place to start, but there is no wrong answer here. A purple elephant or a striped cat can spark a funny story, and that is part of the fun. Older kids can add fur, spots or feathers with short pencil strokes instead of flat color. While your child colors, ask simple questions. Where does this animal live? What does it eat? What sound does it make? A quiet coloring session soon turns into an easy lesson about the natural world, and many kids remember the facts better because they colored them.

Questions parents and teachers ask

What colors should my child use for animals?

Start with real colors if your child likes to match what they see: gray for elephants, orange for tigers and brown for horses. Then let them experiment. Bright, made-up colors are great practice and often make the funniest pictures for the fridge.

How can animal coloring pages help my child learn?

They are a natural way to talk about habitats, food and sounds. Ask where the animal lives or what it eats while your child colors. Younger children can practice animal names and noises, and older ones can write one fact about the animal at the bottom of the page.

What can we do with finished animal pictures?

Glue them on paper plates to make masks, tape them to craft sticks for puppets, or hang several on the wall as a home zoo. In class, children can sort their animals into wild animals, farm animals and pets.

How many animal coloring pages are there?

There are 23 free animal coloring pages right now: 3 easy and 20 medium. Use the Difficulty buttons above the pictures to show one level at a time. New pages are added over time.

Which animal coloring pages are best for toddlers?

Start with the Easy pages, such as Sleepy Cat, Happy Lion and Animal Elephant. They have big shapes and thick lines that children aged 2 to 4 can fill with crayons or the tap-to-fill tool.

How do I print these coloring pages?

Open any page and press Print, or press Download PDF to save it. Pages are sized for standard US Letter paper (8.5 x 11 inches) and also fit A4. Wide pictures print sideways (landscape) automatically.

Can my child color these pages on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Press Color online on any page. Tap a shape to fill it, or draw with the brush, crayon and marker. Press Save to keep the picture in My Gallery on that device; nothing is uploaded.
